The emotional weight of his situation was compounded by the separation from his cherished pet, Patch—a 5-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who had been his steadfast companion.

With no family nearby, John had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender Patch to the Albuquerque Animal Welfare, hoping that his beloved dog would be well cared for. In what was likely his final conversation with Amy Neal, a palliative care social worker, John expressed a simple yet profound wish: to see Patch one more time.

On September 1, a worker at a business park in San Dimas, California, heard faint whimpering coming from a dumpster. To his horror, he found three German Shepherd puppies trapped among the refuse. The poor little ones were described as “hot and hungry.” Unfortunately, the worker was unable to take them in due to his living situation in a motel and a lack of transportation, and animal control was closed for the day. Linda Denise Valdez shared this heartbreaking story in a local Facebook group dedicated to lost and found pets, seeking help from anyone who could foster or rescue the puppies.

Carolyn Castro, an administrator of the group, quickly responded and went to rescue the puppies from the dumpster. She took them to a veterinarian for urgent care, discovering that they were not microchipped.

The circumstances surrounding their abandonment remain a mystery. Castro mentioned reaching out to local businesses in an effort to acquire surveillance footage that might shed light on the situation. She expressed her frustration, questioning whether the puppies were “stolen and dumped” or simply abandoned by someone with no conscience.

As reported by KTLA, Castro is collaborating with the local rescue organization Big Dog Haven to help rehabilitate the puppies and eventually find them loving homes. One such dog, a gentle Pit Bull named Carson, found himself in this predicament. After his family decided they could no longer care for him, he was surrendered to the shelter. Although he had some allergies that caused skin problems, he was a loving companion. The shelter environment proved to be too distressing for Carson; he curled up in a corner, trembling and unable to relax. His condition was heartbreaking for everyone who saw him. Fortunately, a rescue group called Philly Bully Team learned about Carson’s situation, and a dedicated volunteer named Lauren stepped in to help. Recognizing that Carson needed a safe haven, she took him out of the shelter.

Carson expressed his gratitude right away by staying close to Lauren at all times. Wherever she went, he followed. They quickly became inseparable. Lauren understood that this sweet dog required constant reassurance, and she provided just that.

He proudly struts around with a stick in his mouth, and as Lauren lovingly describes, “his whole body wags.” Witnessing a dog transition from fearfulness to joy is truly uplifting.

After his walks, Carson hops up on the couch, offering enthusiastic tail wags that resonate throughout the room. Lauren fondly shares in a video that “his mission in life is to cuddle on the couch with me.” It seems Carson has his priorities in order!

Parveen Kaswan, a forest ranger with the Indian Foreign Service, shared a video last Friday showing Indian elephants engaging in a funeral-like ritual for a baby elephant, resembling human mourning practices.

Kawan’s video has gone viral as stunned social media users flocked to express their amazement and sympathy for the elephants.

The footage, posted on Twitter, shows an elephant emerge from some bushes holding the body of a dead baby elephant in its trunk.

The adult elephant laid its body down and guarded it as it waited for more elephants to join. Walking in a line like a funeral procession, more elephants arrived and surrounded the baby elephant.

The original elephant then lifted the baby once more, other elephants following behind.

The Twitter post garnered more than 5,000 re-tweets and over 12,000 likes on the platform.

Elephants have previously been observed grieving their dead, not unlike how humans have.

Old, deaf dog cries tears of joy to see owner return from military service after months apart

Dogs are the most loyal pets you can have. Once they’re part of your life, they’ll love you forever—no matter how far or how long you’re apart.

It’s always beautiful watching people reunite with their dogs, especially people who have been away from home for military service. For one young woman, there was no greater feeling in the world than coming home to see her old dog again—and they’re reunion was truly beautiful.

In 2015, 21-year-old Army private Hannah Foraker left her home in Ohio to attend 10 weeks of basic training. It was the first time she had really been away.

“I have never been away from home before, so this was a huge deal for me,” she told Today. “It’s truly a character building experience and makes you appreciate the little things in life.”

While it was an exciting step in her life and career, it wasn’t without sadness: for one, it meant having to be apart from her beloved old dog, Buddy.

Buddy was a 13-year-old golden retriever. The two had grown up together.

“She’s very old and has arthritis and is mostly deaf,” Hannah told Buzzfeed. “But I still remember getting her as a puppy.”

“It pulled at my heartstrings, to say goodbye, though having never actually left home before I didn’t realize the importance of giving proper goodbyes,” she told Today.

But after three months apart, Hannah returned home for the holidays… and no one was more excited to see her than her old dog.

“We opened the front door and she came running out and greeted me and my family, but then kind of did a double take and came back to me,” she told Buzzfeed. 

“She was completely overwhelmed and she couldn’t even stand up.”

Buddy was so overwhelmed with joy that she collapsed in Hannah’s lap, just wanting to be close with his old friend.

“She just collapsed in pure happiness,” Hannah told Today. “She just wanted me to hug her and reaffirm that I was actually there.”

Initially, Josh and his team at All 4s Rescue League in Memphis thought Lady was just another lost dog. But they soon realized this charming Pittie had a plan all along. She spent days shadowing a little girl, as if she had chosen her favourite human. During this time, Lady would lounge on the ground, happily interacting with passersby and showering Josh with affection. Josh couldn’t resist snapping a selfie and sharing some cuddles with Lady, who eagerly accepted all the pets and belly rubs.

The rescuers decided to reach out to the girl’s family to learn more about this persistent companion. It turned out that Lady’s journey began when she followed the girl home, starting a bond that led to regular visits. Eventually, the girl’s family took Lady in, making her a permanent member of their household.

From the start, Lady was incredibly affectionate, and it didn’t take long for her to win everyone over and make her place in the home official. Since then, Lady has settled into her new life with her family and her new brother, Diesel, another young Pittie. Seeing Lady thriving in her new home brought immense joy to the rescuers. They even offered to cover vaccinations for both dogs to assist the family financially.

“The family is willing to keep her if we can spay her and provide vaccinations so they have proper records,” the rescue noted.

That day, both Lady and Diesel received their first vaccinations, and Lady was added to the list for low-cost spay surgery. The rescue did everything possible to ensure Lady’s transition to her forever home was smooth and comfortable. With Lady, Diesel, and their human family enjoying each other’s company and creating joyful memories, the rescue was thrilled to see their bond flourishing.

“The kids adore both dogs and have a blast playing in the yard. They’re even obsessed with teaching them to sit. It’s the start of a beautiful new chapter,” the Memphis rescue shared.

Today, Lady, Diesel, and their family live a life full of happiness, adventures, and laughter!

It’s truly disheartening to fathom the abandonment of a puppy, casting them aside as if they were disposable. However, amidst such heartbreak, there are compassionate individuals who are ready to extend a helping hand and offer these neglected dogs a new lease on life.

Recently, a heartwarming story unfolded when a tiny puppy was discovered abandoned in a dire situation but is now thriving, all thanks to the dedication of his rescuers.

As per a touching Facebook post from Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, an 8-week-old puppy was found deserted in a porta potty, “discarded like garbage and left to endure loneliness.”

The puppy, understandably frightened and in a pitiful state, was severely malnourished, with visible ribs and a prominent spine. Additionally, he had “urine-stained paws and overgrown nails,” a testament to the neglect and hardship he had endured.

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control took the puppy under their wing, implementing a gradual feeding plan to facilitate his recovery. With tender care and attention, the abandoned pup’s affectionate nature began to blossom.

“This precious boy has shown remarkable resilience despite being let down by the one who was meant to care for him,” they expressed.

Heartwarming photos captured the puppy beaming and seeking comfort in a caring embrace, a stark contrast to the distressing state in which he was found just a week prior.

“Once his initial excitement settles, he delights in snuggling up in a warm lap. What a testament to the forgiving nature of animals.”

The puppy was then placed in a loving foster home, where he will continue to regain his strength and well-being. Surrounded by nurturing foster parents and “foster dog siblings to learn from,” his journey to recovery is well underway.

At present, FWACC has not specified when the puppy will be ready for adoption, but they assure to keep everyone informed.

They expressed their gratitude to the supporters who contribute to their Angel Fund, which plays a pivotal role in providing much-needed second chances to abandoned dogs like this one.

It’s incomprehensible that anyone would abandon such a precious puppy, but it warms our hearts to know that this dog is now in caring hands and nestled in a wonderful foster home.

The reason: he was tending to his beloved dog, Pepper, who underwent emergency surgery over the weekend.

Since the scare, Roker and his wife both shared updates about the dog’s health.

On Sunday, Roker, 69, announced on social media that his 12-year-old dog Pepper underwent emergency surgery over the weekend, but was now “on the mend.”

“She’s getting great care and is coming home tomorrow,” Roker wrote, sharing a photo of the adorable dog. “Woof. You can sleep on our bed as much as you want.”

Roker’s wife, journalist Deborah Roberts, also shared a post about Pepper.

“Gratitude. My heart is bursting with it today,” Roberts wrote. “Our littlest girl, Pepper, gave us quite a scare. She has survived an emergency surgery. But thankfully, Our strong girl is recovering.”

“We are grateful for any and all prayers for our sweet doggie who has stolen our hearts for 12 years now.”

Abandoned dog found tied to tree — dog now in good hands as owner charged with cruelty

It was a heartbreaking sight after a dog was found abandoned and tied up to a tree — but now the dog is in good hands as the owner faces justice.

On April 22, a man was walking his dog through the Frank Niederwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary, in South Windsor, Connecticut, when he came across a dog, tied up to the limb of a tree.

The dog was mostly in good health, though his eyes were red and his neck was straining against the collar, according to CT Insider.

The good samaritan contacted the police, who began an investigation into the abandonment. Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates also offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The dog had a collar identifying his name as “Kobe.” The dog was taken in by Tyler Regional Animal Care Shelter.

In updates, the shelter said that Kobe was doing well, despite everything he had been through. He has been neutered, received his vaccines and was microchipped.

“His eyes are almost healed, and he is learning manners and personal space,” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “He is LOVING all the attention from every person that meets him.”

Meanwhile, Kobe’s former owner has been identified as 26-year-old Janiya Bradford of Manchester, Connecticut. Police say she ultimately turned herself in, possibly due to the widespread attention to the case on social media.

Community service officer Kaley Curtis told the outlet that abandonments like this are increasingly common and happen “every day,” it is rare they actually find the culprit: “It’s kind of a rarity to have somebody come forward and admit to it,” Curtis said.

Bradford was reportedly charged with cruelty to animals. She has been released on a $5,000 bond ahead of her court date on June 5.

Kobe — now renamed “Obie” — will reportedly go up for adoption as early as Friday. He needs to be adopted to a female-only household, as he doesn’t like males. But given the attention to the case and outpouring of support for the dog, he should have no trouble finding a perfect home soon enough.

Shelter dog was always passed over because she’s shy — 188 days later her luck finally turns around

Every shelter dog dreams of finding their forever home, but it takes some longer than others. Some dogs are shy and anxious, and as a result get passed over by adopters.

That was the case for one dog, who waited 188 days to find a home, becoming one of her shelter’s longest residents — but then her luck finally turned around.

Sky, a 3-year-old dog, arrived at the Humane Society of Pinellas, in Florida, in October. She was surrendered by her owner who was experiencing homelessness, according to McClatchy News.

The shelter described Sky as “very smart, playful and cuddly,” but also said she can “be a bit shy” around humans at first. They wrote that she has anxiety and can become “easily overwhelmed” in new environments.

For these reasons, Sky struggled to find a home. After months in the shelter, she was one of their longest residents. “She has had a hard time finding a place to call home,” Humane Society of Pinellas wrote.

Sky needed a home where she would be the only dog, with a family who would take the time to make her feel welcome and secure and also provide a lot of enrichment to help her stress levels.

“She has learned so many new skills from us at HSP and now we are hoping someone out there can give her a positive home where she can flourish,” they wrote.

Thankfully, after 188 days in the shelter, Sky’s luck finally turned around: On May 4, the humane society announced that Sky had been adopted!

Veteran in Hospice Care Has Final Wish Granted, Sees Beloved Dog One Last Time

For many, dogs become far more than just pets. Their loyalty, intuition, and unconditional love make them members of the family, ones who stand by our sides during life’s most challenging moments. A veteran named John Vincent was heartbroken when he had to give up his beloved dog Patch after entering hospice care, and even during his final days, he didn’t stop thinking about his best friend.

The 69-year-old had no family nearby, and nobody he knew was willing to take in his 5-year-old companion. When Vincent was moved to the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Patch was relinquished to Albuquerque Animal Welfare.

Vincent’s condition was quickly deteriorating, and during a session with his palliative care social worker, Amy Neal, the veteran made a far-fetched last request. His last wish was to see his best friend once more, to say one last goodbye to the loyal terrier. After realizing how meaningful the reunion would be to Vincent, Neal scrambled to make the veteran’s last wish a reality.

“When the request came in, it was an immediate ‘absolutely,’ and let’s do whatever we can to get it done,” Danny Nevarez, Director of Animal Welfare told the Albuquerque Journal. “It was as simple as getting Patch over here.”

As the animal welfare workers drove towards Vincent with Patch quietly in tow, something in the small pup changed.

“It’s almost like he knew, he just started whimpering,” Nevares told the Journal. “Like he had that anticipation.”

The reunion between Vincent and Patch was nothing short of extraordinary, with both man and dog perking up at the sight of one another.

Man’s dying wish is to find a new home for his beloved dog: “Like trying to find a home for your child”

A man diagnosed with terminal cancer knows he is facing the end of his life, but it’s someone else he’s most concerned about: his beloved dog, who faces an uncertain future when the owner is gone.

Now, the man’s dying wish is to find a perfect home for his sweet pet before he passes.

David Fine, from Plainville, Massachusetts, rescued his pet dog Babs, a Shar-Pei/Boxer mix, from a shelter 10 years ago, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

According to WJAR, David underwent treatment for leukemia and was diagnosed with vascular disease, before getting the devastating news that he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

David opted not to undergo treatments — while they may have bought him a little more time, they also would’ve decreased his quality of life.

Five months ago, doctors told him he has six months to live. With his time running out, David has one top priority: finding a new home for Babs.

“I had told myself I was never gonna get another pet because it breaks my heart to lose them,” David told WJAR. “Unfortunately, she’s going to outlive me this time.”

For David, who does not have children, his loyal dog is the most important thing in his life: “It’s like trying to find a home for your child,” he added.

“She is the most important thing at this point. My fate is sealed but hers is not.”

David says he wants to see Babs transition and get acclimated to a new home while he is still alive. When he enters hospice care, he will surrender Babs to her new family. While he says having to give up his dog might “kill him,” he will “rest at peace” knowing she’s safe and secure.

He’s getting help from animal rescuer Jennie Mann, who put the word out on social media and is screening potential candidates. She wrote that David is a “sweet kind-hearted man” and that finding a home for Babs is his “dying wish.”

“His dog is his life,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “He said he can’t be laid to rest, until he knows his baby will be taken care of, when he is gone.”

“He wants someone who will love her like he does,” she added. “He wants her to understand he did not abandon her, and that he has passed. He wants her to feel comfortable going to a new home so she doesn’t feel like she lives with a stranger.”

Jennie writes that Babs is a loving and affectionate dog with no behavioral issues, but she does not get along with other dogs and needs to be the only pet in the household.

In a May 10 update, Jennie said she has been meeting with interested adopters, though many of them have pets at home or live too far away, so the search continues.

But hopefully, they will be able to find a perfect home for Babs before David’s time comes.

Dog cries endlessly after 260 days in the shelter — looking for a perfect new home

Being in a shelter for a long time can really take a toll on a dog. Many shelters see once happy and hopeful dogs lose their spirits after months of rejection.

That’s the case for one Indiana shelter dog named Major, who “cries endlessly” more than 260 days after being rejected by his old family. But his friends at the shelter still hold out hope that there is a perfect family for him somewhere.

Major is a 4-year-old terrier/pitbull mix who is in the care of the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Indiana.

He was taken in as a stray last summer. According to a Facebook post, he was microchipped, so shelter employees were able to contact his original owners, who said they would come to pick him up — but they never showed.

Major has been in the shelter ever since. But despite that heartbreaking rejection, the humane society says that in the beginning Major was in good spirits, describing him as a “sweet and sensitive” dog, a “true companion with a big heart” who loves to play and loves his Jolly Ball.

The staff called him a handsome boy and nicknamed him “Major hunk” and “Major heartthrob.” But sadly, not everyone saw his great qualities: months went by, and Major was constantly passed over by adopters.

Shelter staff say that the constant rejection has taken a toll on Major’s bright spirits.

“His spunky personality is dimming,” the humane society wrote on Facebook. “This once jolly ball-lovin’ boy now sits in his room and cries endlessly.”

The shelter has moved him out of the kennels, which they say are causing him stress, and moved him to the visiting room. But they know the only real solution is to find Major a real home as soon as possible.

Major would do best in a family without young children or cats. He can get along with other dogs, but doesn’t always know his own strength, so a meet-and-greet is encouraged.

While not every home is perfect for Major, there has to be a family out there who would be a perfect fit for this sweet and playful dog. “If you’re ready to welcome a loving, strong, and playful friend into your life, Major is the one for you!” his adoption page reads.

Leaving Your Pup in the Cold Could Now Be a Felony

it’s pawsomely important for dog owners to remember: bring your furry friends indoors! Leaving them outside for extended periods in the cold and snow has unfortunately been a reality for some pups. Thankfully, change is afoot! In Pennsylvania and other states, new laws are making it a felony to leave a dog outside for too long in extreme temperatures.

Libre’s Law, enacted in Pennsylvania in June 2017, is a beacon of hope for animal welfare. Named after a brave dog who survived horrific neglect, this law safeguards pets from cruelty, neglect, and abuse. Libre, a victim of “backyard breeding,” was found near death in an outdoor enclosure. Only thanks to the unwavering efforts of his rescuers and veterinarians did he pull through.

Part of Libre’s Law states that pets cannot be left outside in harsh winter conditions; if temperatures go below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, dogs cannot be tied up outside for more than 30 minutes. In the summer, this rule switches to temperatures of more than 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ignoring the warnings comes with a steep price tag! Owners caught leaving their pups in the cold face serious animal cruelty charges. These charges can bite with fines up to $15,000 and even jail time as long as seven years. However, there are loopholes. The law allows some exceptions for tethering dogs used for hunting or specific sporting events.pen_spark

Hopefully, this new law will deter some dog owners from mistreating their dogs this winter and leaving them outside in frigid temperatures. The purpose of the law is to prevent the type of cruelty that nearly cost Libre his life and that has cost the lives of many other pets.

A good rule of thumb is to remember that if it’s too cold outside for you, then it’s too cold for your dog. Dogs can suffer from hypothermia, when the dog’s body temperature falls well below normal, and that can lead to a dogs’ death. Frostbite can also affect dogs left in the cold for too long and most commonly impacts the paws, ears and tail. Dogs with shorter coats are especially susceptible to these conditions.

If you see a dog left out in the cold, call the county sheriff’s office or animal control officer. Report what you see, including the time, date, location and type of animal involved. Follow up respectfully with your contact within a few days’ time. Finally, reach out to a local or national humane society for further counsel on the situation.

It’s cold out there right now, and your pets are part of your family. Remember to bring them in and keep them warm and loved.

When people say that animals don’t have feelings, the only thing I can say is that these people have never been in contact with an animal. Spending just a few minutes with one and you can see their personalities, their emotions, and even sometimes their attitude. So when I saw what happened after one stray dog’s best friend was struck by a car, it didn’t surprise me – but it still broke my heart knowing the pain this doggy is feeling.The photos say it all.

After this was taken, someone came to the dogs’ side. Sadly, the one that was struck passed away. The other lied beside her until she was taken away.It’s okay to cry. I did.

Noelle the deaf Terrier mix is best friends with her dad, so when he had to go away for his Army basic training, it was a bit difficult for the both of them. Thankfully, Dad’s friend was able to watch Noelle while he was gone to make things a little less stressful.

That friend volunteers at pet adoption events every weekend, so she took Noelle with her to PetSmart so that her dad could just pick her up from there as soon as he got home. Abandoned Dog Pursues Car, Unaware of His Heartbreaking Abandonment

It’s truly heartbreaking how some people can abandon their pets so thoughtlessly. Recently, one poor dog was abandoned in the middle of the street — and in a truly heartbreaking sight, ran after the car that had just dumped him 😢💔

But thanks to some kind people, the sweet dog is now in better hands…

The dog, a Bull Terrier mix now named “Chico,” was reportedly pushed out of a black Lexus in Long Beach, California.

A bystander recorded the moment the poor dog chased after his heartless owner’s car, not understanding that he had been abandoned.

The bystander reportedly confronted the owner, telling her to pick up the dog, but she just “laughed and rolled up her windows.”Answer

The video caught the attention of dog rescuer Destiny Gomez. “When I watched that video, it broke my heart,” she told NBC Los Angeles. “I could not stop crying. I could not keep the dog out of my mind.”

Learning that the dog was still on the loose, Destiny went looking for him. After a few unsuccessful searches, her boyfriend Kevin found the dog and was able to lure him using bits of jerky.

With Chico finally secure, the couple reached out to the local nonprofit Bella’s Animal Rescue, who took the dog in.

Chico is now up for adoption. In the meantime, he’s in the care of a loving foster. He’s going on walks, playing with toys and other dogs, and getting the love he had so clearly been denied in his previous situation.

It’s unbelievable that anyone would so heartlessly abandon such a loving dog like this, but we’re glad Chico is now in good hands and hope he finds a great forever home soon ❤️

A TikTok video, posted by @lushblends26, captures the touching moment when the family feeds their senior dog pieces of a Hershey’s chocolate bar. Despite the general advice against giving dogs chocolate, this family made an exception for their cherished pet who was nearing the end of his life, wanting to give him a unique experience.

The owner expressed, “No dog should go to Heaven without knowing how chocolate tastes.” The dog consumed a small amount of chocolate, which was not enough to cause harm or discomfort, and according to the owner, he “loved it.”

The decision to euthanize their elderly dog was made after his quality of life had significantly declined, and he began showing signs of readiness to pass on. The owner shared in the comments, “It was so hard seeing him in pain. The vet told me he will give me signs when he’s ready to go. He finally showed me those signs.”

Parting with a pet is always a heart-wrenching experience. Chocolate is known to be harmful to dogs due to the presence of theobromine and caffeine, which can stimulate the central nervous system and heart and act as diuretics. However, the risk varies with different types of chocolate, with milk chocolate being relatively safer. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the dog experienced any negative effects from consuming a few pieces of Hershey’s chocolate.

Interestingly, it’s not uncommon for people to give their dogs a small amount of chocolate as a final treat. A veterinary clinic in Alabama went viral for their jar of “goodbye kisses” – Hershey’s Kisses given to dogs about to be euthanized. “This jar is reserved for our euthanasia appointments…because no dog should go to Heaven without tasting chocolate.”

Bradenton woman drowned her chocolate lab to stop him from barking

A widow drowned her terrified chocolate Labrador in her bathtub because it wouldn’t stop barking at her, it is claimed.

Margaret Kinsella, 43, is said to have been heard drowning the whimpering pet at her apartment complex in Bradenton, Florida, last month.

A maintenance man working on her apartment’s air conditioning told sheriff’s deputies he saw Kinsella take the dog into her bathroom and shut the door.

The unnamed worker said he then both Kinsella and the dog screaming from inside the bathroom

A woman from Florida is facing a felony charge of animal cruelty after admitting to drowning her dog in the bathtub. Margaret Kinsella, 43, confessed to intentionally killing her Labrador retriever because she was distressed by the dog’s constant barking and biting.

The incident occurred on November 5, and Kinsella was arrested on December 17 following a necropsy that confirmed the cause of the dog’s death.

She cited increased stress due to recent family deaths as contributing factors to her actions. Kinsella has been charged with a third-degree felony under Florida law and is scheduled to appear in court on January 10. The tragic event took place while maintenance workers were repairing Kinsella’s air conditioning unit, and a witness reported hearing screams from the bathroom before discovering the deceased animal in the bathtub.

Minutes later, Asia heard the screaming intensify and opened the bathroom door, according to the affidavit. Asia saw the dog floating in the bathtub, deputies wrote, and rushed to remove it. 

In interviews, Kinsella allegedly told deputies that her anxiety and depression increased as she dealt with the deaths of her husband and father in the past year. She said she became angry after the dog barked and bit her, driving her to drown the animal, according to the affidavit. 

Kinsella was booked into jail Dec. 17 and later released on a $5,000 bond. If found guilty, she could face a fine of up to $10,000 per Florida law. 

While every state has laws banning animal cruelty, President Donald Trump signed a bill in November making it a federal felony. Kitty Block, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, has said the law fills a gap between state laws, allowing federal prosecutors to pursue cases that cross state lines.

That prompted him to ask her if she needed any help, only for her to refuse, it is alleged.

The air conditioning worker was further disturbed when he heard louder screams a few minutes later, WWSB reported.

He was able to get the door of the bathroom open, and is said to have seen the Labrador dead in the bathtub.

The maintenance man quickly dragged the dog from the water, but was unable to save its life.

During a subsequent interview at Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Kinsella reportedly said that the dog constantly barked at her, and that it had bitten her.

She also told deputies how she had been struggling with the deaths of her father and husband, who she claimed had passed away in the last 12 months.

Kinsella was initially given a psychiatric evaluation, and was eventually arrested on December 17.

She has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Unloved Shelter Dog Yearns for Home as People Shun Him for Being ‘Scary-Looking

At the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford, Connecticut, Biggie is in urgent need of someone to give him the love and home he so deserves. Despite his delightful, affectionate nature, he often goes unnoticed.

Recently, a family visited the shelter in search of a “cheerful and friendly pit bull,” and Biggie perfectly fit this description! However, upon seeing Biggie, they remarked that his “ears looked scary.”

Unfortunately, Biggie continues to be overlooked for reasons such as his size and color, perpetuating the cycle of rejection.

Biggie doesn’t look in the mirror much and has no idea he’s supposedly scary looking. All this five year old pup wants is to be loved. He has been in the shelter for 210 days – just dreaming of having a family and not knowing why no one wants him.

Biggie is such a sweet guy with a happy personality. He did well in the cat room and enjoys pack walking with dogs too. He’s a big guy, weighing in at 80 pounds, so probably no little kids because he might knock them over .

Biggie is getting depressed now and doesn’t get up when you go back into the dog room. His advocates are really hoping to find someone to put the waggle back into him. His favorite pastime is finding squeakers in toys, but he also loves going for pup cups, eating snacks, hiking at times and just cuddling.
